Questions & Answers
How long will I need to use an LED light on my skin before
I see results?
A. Some people see improvement in as little as a few days
and others take a month or two to notice a change. Various
physical conditions, age, skin conditions, diet, alcohol consumption,
prescription drug usage, smoking, exercise, and other factors
influence the rate of improvement. The effects of LED light
are often subtle at first, because unlike lasers, peels and
other ablative treatments, LED light does not damage the skin
to force it to regenerate. Your results will improve the longer
you use the light; so if you see improvement in 60 days, then
you should see a much more significant change after you've
been using it for six months or a year.
A Day in the Sun... Here is something you don't hear
everyday, but spending some time in the sun can help decrease
your chance of certain types of skin cancer. According to
researchers at the
Nutrition and Health Research Center (SUNARC) at the University
of California, San Diego, there are two reasons why this is
true 1) you develop a tan that blocks the penetration of UVR
so it can't produce the free radicals that can lead to melanoma;
and 2) you produce lots of vitamin D. [Garland et al.,
1990; Kennedy et al., 2004]. So besides from staying
away from tobacco and alcohol, getting a little sun is one
of the top ways to reduce your chances of developing cancer.
In addition to preventing certain types of skin cancer, sun exposure can also lower your risk of heart disease. A recent study showed that patients who raised their vitamin D levels through sunshine and vitamin D supplements were 33% less likely to have a heart attack and 20% less likely to suffer heart failure. [American College of Cardiology's 59th Annual Scientific Session, Atlanta, March 15, 2010. J. Brent Muhlestein, MD, Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute].
Here are a few more diseases that vitamin D helps prevent:
- Gum disease
What is your appropriate dose of sun?
By spending 20 minutes in the sun around noon you can produce up to 1,500 IU of vitamin D if 10 to 20 percent of your body is exposed.
Depending on how dark your skin is you
may need to spend an hour or more in the sun to make enough vitamin D to ward-off cancer.
ABOUT SAFE SUNBATHING: Decrease your chance of developing
wrinkles by wearing a hat to protect your face, neck, and
eyes from long periods of sun exposure. And help reduce wrinkles
by taking omega-3 fatty acids—which can be found in
fish and fish oil supplements—and loading up on vitamin
C and E. Vitamin C serum applied to the skin is great for
reducing free radical activity that can lead to sun damage.
Since the shelf-life of vitamin C serums is very limited,
we are currently testing a recipe for a simple, home-made
to see eHow recipe and let us know how it works for you!

Green Tea is not just healthy to drink, but can also help improve
your appearance. Here are six ways you can use green tea as
a beauty remedy...
1. Puffy Eyes... Do you find yourself waking up looking more tired in the morning than you did when you crawled into bed last night? Soak a cotton ball in green tea and place on your eyelids for 10 minutes.
Hurting from the sun? Spent a little too long outdoors? Green
tea has natural calming agents that can soothe
tender or sun burned skin. Pour green tea
into a spray bottle and spray sun-burned areas for cooling,
natural relief. Due to its anti-bacterial qualities, green
tea can also work as an antiseptic to spray on skin blemishes
3. Bad breath? Green tea can be used as mouthwash, and can also help protect and keep your teeth and gums healthy.
4. Getting sick? Green tea can relieve the pain of sore throats. You can drink it or gargle with it to help reduce your cold and flu symptoms.
5. Green tea is high in minerals that can help increase your bone density, which will help prevent poor posture and loss of stature. Who needs milk when you have green tea?
6. Stinky feet can be prevented by soaking them in green tea, which also reduces your chances of forming nasty fungal infections.
note: We haven't confirmed this yet, but we've also heard
that green tea helps reduce belly fat...
What a nice side effect!
